"The Earth provides enough to satisfy every person's need, but not every person's greed. When we take more than we need, we are simply taking from each other, borrowing from the future, or destroying the environment and other species."
~Mahatma Gandhi

Eco-Ethics Institute, Inc. (E-EI) is a 501(c)3 educational organization. We are a collaboration of Environmental and Educational Professionals.

E-EI facilitates and encourages exploration of the ethics* underlying decisions we make that affect the environment in our everyday lives. We work with educators and students in a number of ways to achieve this end, including: modeling environmental debates; assisting teachers with the integration of ethical perspectives into environment-related lessons; and through partnerships with other organizations that bring indigenous peoples' wisdom together with the wisdom of the Western world.

Environmental Ethics Education (E3) is a means for E-EI to communicate to students the essential core values that direct decision-making throughout all aspects of their life and their character formation. When environmental ethics becomes a thread woven through the decision-making process, the quality of life will be enhanced for our global community, and for future generations.

Currently, our efforts have been directed towards professional development of eductors through integration of our ethics matrix within a curriculum for public participation in land use (Smart Growth) and community planning.

In addition, a student debate exercise has been developed to foster awareness and insights into options for decisions concerning economic and environmental well being.

These programs have been correlated to the Michigan Curriculum Framework Benchmarks and the National Education Standards.
